Sailing Tall Ships is a dying art. It's hard to find information on how do do many of the tasks needed to operate vessels from this era. In an effort to keep these skills alive the Ships Company is ramping up our training program. We will be producing several small volumes to help out crew gain the skills and confidence they need to operate our vessels. These Training Manuals are a great place to enhance knowledge in addition to the existing practical experience on board Badger or Lynx. The first volume, Seaman, has been completed and several members have already mastered the tasks within. After each volume is completed, a senior member of the Ship's Company will test you on your knowledge. If you prove competency, you can move on to the next level, with all the new responsibilities and skills that come with it. Two more volumes are planned, Able Seaman and Coxswain. Once completing these levels, a member will be qualified to lead the crew of HMS Badger on one of our many summer sails. These levels are not mandatory, but encouraged. The more you know the more fun it is to sail! Best of luck for your winter studies!
